Former head coach of Remo Stars Football Club, Daniel Ogunmodede has finally teamed up with Portuguese side CD Feirense, three months after the announcement of the deal. Ogunmodede has resumed duties as the assistant to head coach Rui Ferreira.
He begins life in the Liga Portugal 2 with Feirense after guiding Remo Stars to promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League last season.
In a chat with Sports247, the budding tactician spoke at length about his path to Portugal and thanked the club’s chairman Kunle Soname for believing in him.
“Personally, I give all glory to God and I must confess that I appreciate the effort of the chairman of my club, Kunle Soname for having the belief in me, and the trust in my ability to achieve this feat.
“I feel so elated to be in this country presently with CD Feirense. I think it is the first time it has happened that a coach went directly from the Nigerian league to a European club. I am promising my fans, the good people of Nigeria, and the world as a whole that I will not take this chance for granted.”
Ogunmodede revealed his motivation for accepting the challenge.
“All I want to do is to see how much I can learn from this experience and in the near future interpret it to help the development of football in Nigeria. I am very optimistic.
“In the near future, the country is going to benefit from it through the project of Remo Stars Football Club, which we have been doing for years,” he added.
