Following his €12.3 move from Championship side Middlesbrough FC to Ajax on a five-year deal, Nigeria striker Chuba Akpom has said that he can’t wait to show what he can do in his first official interview with the Netherlands-based club.
The attacker like Sven Mislintat, is looking forward to his period in Amsterdam, the role in the team, and scoring in the Ajax shirt with his first words, “I can’t wait to show what I can do.”
“It’s a pleasure. From what I’ve seen this is a beautiful place. Hopefully, I can settle down as soon as possible.”
“Ibrahimovic, Suárez, and players like that have represented the club at the top level, Ajax is a club with a lot of history and hopefully I can add some history to it,” he stated.
It was not a difficult choice for Akpom to move to Amsterdam despite having so many offers from English Premiership clubs and also Ligue 1 – “The name itself says enough, the football club Ajax.
When you put on this shirt you have to know what it stands for the history and the success that the club has had in Europe and the Netherlands,” says the 27-year-old attacker.
