WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has commented that he would love to take on Tyson Fury now but Joshua fears he will have to take on Tyson Fury behind closed doors. Both Joshua and Fury collectively hold all the four heavyweight world titles between them.
Fury and Joshua were on a collision course to face off against each other sometime in December. The fight was looking to take place in Saudi Arabia to determine who is the king of the heavyweight division. But no thanks to the latest war the world is fighting now. That was before the coronavirus pandemic gained momentum at such an alarming rate, infecting more than two million people in the world now. Their bout is likely to be pushed up to February.
This is the problem for Anthony Joshua, according to him, Fury could hang up his gloves for good before their fight materializes.
“It is such a shame that I am quarantine right now as it has put a halt to greatness, but this is part of history and I am working towards beating Tyson Fury. I am looking at Tyson Fury like I am going to walk through him as well. I had my issue last year [losing to Andy Ruiz], I got through it and I want to correct it.”
With the current issue in the world now, there are high chances that one of the biggest fights in heavyweight boxing will take place behind closed doors and in front of absolutely nobody.
“So yes it would be difficult to fight without the crowd there to entertain. But a win is a win, and it goes down in history and this is just part of history.”- Anthony Joshua
While AJ admits it would be difficult to fight without a crowd to entertain. He is willing to give it all up for a shot at Fury’s title.
“If Eddie Hearn said he managed to secure the Tyson Fury fight, but it is behind closed doors. I would take it. If I don’t take it now then I don’t think Tyson Fury will be around by the time this all comes around again, when big hall shows are available. I have to take the opportunity while they’re there.”- Anthony Joshua
Joshua and Fury are looking forward to defending their titles ahead of their great British showdown but not before they both take on their mandatory challengers which are different from each other. Joshua will take on Kubrat Pulev in an underwhelming defense compared to what could be a fight against Tyson Fury.

On the other hand, Fury will take on Deontay Wilder in the final edition of their trilogy. Wilder got this fight after exercising his right to a rematch following his devastating loss against The Gypsy King early this year.
