Former Super Eagles defender and coach Christian Chukwu has said he is satisfied with the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation to continue with Gernot Rohr as manager of the national team, sports247 gathers.
Chairman as he is fondly called, expresses his pleasure as the NFF are set to retain the German tactician by offering him a new contract as his current contract is expected to end in the coming weeks.
Last weekend, the NFF executive committee decided that the contract renewal of the Franco-German should be concluded within the next seven days.
Speaking with Lagos-based Brila FM, Chukwu noted the decision is okay especially with the NFF chiefs comfortable working with the coach as the coach has taken time to create balance in the Super Eagles team. “Well, If NFF finds him comfortable to work with because they are the ones governing our football, then I have no problems. So if they say Gernot Rohr is going to sign their contract and continue the job, good and fine,” Chukwu submitted.
Rohr is expected to sign a contract extension with the super eagles by next week. The gaffer has done well in bringing stability to the national team ever since he took the job, though without a trophy. He led Nigeria to a third place finish on the last Africa Cup of Nations.
