Former Super eagle’s left back Taye Taiwo has come out to address the rumor that he is a twin. The former Olympic Marseille player told veteran sports journalist Collin Udo in an exclusive interview on his instagram page.
The versatile left footed player said though he was born a twin and that his pair was a girl but was told by his father that they lost her at a very tender age.
Rumor had it at a certain time that Taye Taiwo was a twin and he was ten years younger than his twin brother. This made fans of the round leather game raised eyebrows if really the Super eagles player was involved in age cheat. When asked about it he clarified it all.
“poeple don’t even know the background of someone but they just write what they don’t know about. When I was younger my father told me that I was a twin but the second was a girl and we lost her so how come since Taye Taiwo started playing football, going to the world cup, and there is no picture of my twin.”
Taiwo who played for English side Queen’s Park Rangers shared his ordeal about the rumor even in England as he was ask embarrassingly by a journalist.
“When I was in London, they started doing joke around. A journalist came to the training ground to ask me if I have a twin I was like what kind of question is that? I don’t have. I was feeling very bad though. But it’s a free world.”he concluded.
Taye Taiwo was among the Nigeria Flying Eagles team that won silver medal in Netherlands 2005 along with Mikel Obi, Isaac promise, Chinedu Ogbuke, Solomon Abuoh and the like.
The 35 year old did business for AC Milan during the time of Massimiliano Allegri as coach. Marseille, Dynamo Kyiv, HJK Helsinki, amongst others are the notable clubs he played for.
