This is not the best of time for FC Robo Academy following their 1-9 scandalous defeat suffered in the hands of unbeaten Prince Kazeem Eletu Academy in a friendly match played yesterday at Agege Stadium, Lagos.
Nobody thought FC Robo Academy would suffer such defeat looking at their football pedigree in the state.
The encounter started on a brighter note for both teams.FC Robo created scoring chances in the early game but failed to utilize them.
The trouble started when Yusuf Eletu opened the goal account in the 30th minute to ease the tension.
The first goal spurred Eletu to declare total war on their opponents as Eletu whose performance was applauded by the fans scored the second goal to end the first half 2-0 in favor of Prince Kazeem Eletu Academy.
The second half was tougher.FC Robo Academy continued to create scoring chances but failed to score as a result of poor finishing.
Michael Awelewa was on the score sheet when he made his third goal for Eletu Academy. Raymond Oboh who was on a rampage throughout the tie hit the net three times to make it seven goals for Eletu.
FC Robo Academy got a consolatory goal when Mustapha Lawal quickly converted a penalty kick in the 68th minute.
Two goals from Ola and Awelewa condemned their opponents to total defeat before the referee signaled for full time.
Reacting to defeat, FC Robo Academy coach, Seyi Awe expressed shock over the defeat saying that his players lacked exposure and concentration which caused their embarrassing defeat.
“This is the first time I would concede the biggest defeat in my coaching career. My players gave their best but they met a stronger team. We lost this match because my players are not used to Astroturf pitch so it affects our performance. I congratulate our opponents for this victory and I wish to play them in the nearest future,” he said.
Eletu Academy coach, Oluwadamilola Idowu said it was a sweet victory commended his boys for excellent performance.
