Former players of the super eagles of Nigeria are making claims that some coaches demand bribe from national team players in order to make the team list to the world cup.
This shocking revelation was initially made by two ex-internationals, Chinadu Obasi and Taye Taiwo. As if it was not enough, Brown Ideye has joined his voice to the accusers.
In the words of Obasi ” I was playing for Schalke, I was playing in the Champions League and I was doing well. Two days before the list came out, I was asked to pay some money if I want to be in the team. I felt like I’ve paid my dues for the country, I shouldn’t do this. If I was a young player, maybe I would have done that, but it was a bit personal for me and I felt very heartbroken. I was supposed to move from Hoffenheim to England and I got injured playing for Nigeria at the World Cup in South Africa 2010 ,” Former Eagles left-back Taye Taiwo also made similar bribery claims lately explaining how he was forced to leave the national team because of ‘Keshi’s dirty deals.’ as The Guardian ng puts it.
The list keeps getting fuller as another ex-eagles star, Brown Ideye added his voice. In his words “Before I retire, I will write a book and pour everything out. Not going to that World Cup, God used Keshi to sideline me for the West Bromich Albion job.”
President of the association of coaches in Nigeria has called for justice. There is a saying that he who calls for equity must come with clean hands. How sure is Bosso in defending members of his association? One can only speak for one self. As he speaks in defence of his people ” We hereby request the accusers to mention the name of the coaches so as to stop the unnecessary backlash and bad blood that has continued to ravage the social media and some conventional media outfit,” Bosso said. “If the accusers see their actions as a means of bringing sanity into Nigeria football, the association will only welcome it if the accuser is precise and open to back up such allegations with facts and evidence.”
He continues: “Otherwise, the association strictly frown against persons making damming allegations against her members without any iota of facts or evidence to back same. We, therefore, advise that such nefarious allegations must stop as it only succeeds in painting Nigeria coaches bad and putting our hard-earned integrity and reputation built over the years to disrepute. l subsequently ask our members to take legal action against anyone who may defame their character and reputation in the eyes of the public,”
After all claims and counter claims, One is really not obliged by law to speak of a crime committed against one and calls names if one doesn’t want a legal action. As it stands, the players have decided to keep it in their chest and have not accused anybody or any group in particular. But when x-rayed the assistants of the then boss should take the allocation personally and answer to it since Steven Keshi is more as all three fingers are pointing to a particular coaching dispensation. He worked with two assistants and those men could know what the guys are talking about but much have not been heard from them.
