The Egyptian Football Federation (EFF) has appointed Hossam Hassan as the new head coach of the Egyptian national team, replacing the sacked coach, Rui Vitoria following their exit from the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023.

The Pharaohs exited the competition in the round of 16 after losing to D.R Congo on penalties.
Former player, Hossam Hassan will now lead the Egyptian national team with his twin brother, Ibrahim Hassan assisting him.
“The board of directors of the Egyptian Football Federation (EFF) decided, at its meeting held on Tuesday, to appoint Hossam Hassan as the head coach of the Egyptian first team, replacing Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria. The board also decided to appoint Ibrahim Hassan as the team’s manager,” a statement from the Egyptian
Hossam Hassan is a former Egyptian international, and during his playing career, he carried the colours of several Egyptian clubs, such as Al Ahly and Zamalek Valley.
Hossam Hassan, 57, has previously coached several Egyptian clubs such as Zamalek, Ismaili, Pyramids, Etihad Alexandria and Al-Masry Al-Bor Saidi. He also coached the Jordan national team from 2013-2014.
The Egyptian fans are looking forward to the Egyptian national team, which holds the record for the number of TotalEnergies CAF AFCON, with 7 titles, to return to its usual status with the new duo that will lead the technical staff, Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan, who will also raise the challenge to achieve this.
