Hoops N’ Read Coach Eyes NBBF Premier League Glory After Winning South West Basketball Showdown

After winning the South South West Basketball League showdown, coach Dossou Victor Mensah of Hoops N’ Read Basketball Club, have set a high target for ahead of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, Premier League which will begin on October 25 in Jos and Benin, Sports247 reports.

After their successful outing in Ibadan, Oyo State, where the club represented Lagos State to win South West Basketball Showdown championship, Hoops N’ Read are heading to the ancient and historic city of Benin, the Edo State capital for the 2024 NBBF Premier League where they will face other teams in the Atlantic conference for a place in the Super 8 playoffs.

The Head Coach, Dossou Victor Mensah said in an interview that the team is ready and well prepared for the task, basking in the experience gained at the just concluded South West Basketball Showdown to go for glory in the NBBF Premier League.

“For the abridged NBBF Premier League our target is podium finish, and for us to achieve that, we take it game by game, coupled with efforts of the players, training hard daily to win the League,” he said in an interview.

Coach Mensah strongly views every other team in Benin City as a potential threat to Hoops N’ Read basketball ambition of the club winning their sixth diadem this year as the club will not underrate any of their in order to achieve their aim.

“All teams are competitors, we are not looking down on any team or disrespecting any team.”

” Taking it game by game, no team will be able to pose a threat to our goal,” he said.

He heaped praises on Mr. Oyedeji, the founder and financier of the team for his unwavering support for the Team financially, emotionally and mentally.

The President, Nigeria Olympian Association, was the brain and sponsor behind the South West Basketball League showdown finals, a project coach Mensah strongly believes will help the growth and development of the basketball in the region and he country at large
