Excellent football club of Ughelli have received a massive source of support for their Tournoi International de Football Koumassi TIK-K ambition from Chief Hon Godwin Adode, as the Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council has joined to boost the team’s quest for glory in Abidjan Cote d’ivoire.
Chief Hon Godwin Adode popularly referred to as “Coach Tete” said during a reception held at his office on Monday in honour of the team before departure to Abidjan, that Excellent FC could win this year’s Tournoi International de Football Koumassi TIK-K tournament if all hands are on deck for the team.
He added that the decision to host and present cash support to the team shows the local government council is proud to have a team that is doing very well locally, Nationally and going international. He encouraged all to rally round to support the team and also affirmed that the Ughelli North Local Government Council is solidly behind the team as well.
Adode declared: “I must commend the CEO of Excellent FC, Coach Onome James, your technical crew and the players for the job you are doing. Your effort has not just put spotlight of our local government on the State and National level, you are taking us to the continental level.”
“We are proud of you. Excellent FC plays in the Nationwide league and your Academy team will be participating in an international competition. I want to assure you that as a local government council, our doors are open to you at all times and we will continue to support you. Go out there and be good ambassadors of Ughelli North LGA, Delta State and Nigeria”.
Responding, the CEO of Excellent football club, Mr Onome James thanked the Executive Chairman Chief Hon Godwin Adode for the support and that of his administration that has made sports a priority on it agenda. He went further to say that the young boys have worked hard to make Nigeria proud
He said: “I must thank “Coach Tete” and the Ughelli North Council for yout support. We are grateful and highly motivated because if sports was not given a top priority by your administration, it may have been difficult for us to embark on this trip. Let me assure you that we will by the grace of God not let you down. Thank you very much Sir.”
The contingent of players and officials will depart Nigeria for Côte d’Ivoire on Tuesday 31st August, 2021 and will open their campaign on September 4 against Centre de formation Cisse Mohamed Lamine (CF CML) Diambars in Abidjan.
