Buruj Sports Academy on Monday evening recorded a resounding 4-0 win over Standard FC in their last group game of ongoing Hon. Sesan Dada Football Tournament holding at Alasalatu playing ground, Agric Bus Stop, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Effiong Stephen opened the floodgate with a well taken goal in the 25th minute before Akuba Ignatius strike via free-kick awarded the Buruj Boys ten minutes later. A minute later, Tobi Adeyera added the third before the closing of the first half before completing his brace in the 56th minute.
With the win, Buruj Sports Academy have emerged top in their group with seven points and consequently await their opponents in the next stage of the competition being organized by Ikorodu Divisional Football Association.
Speaking on the game, the CEO of the academy, Salaudeen Waheed, expressed his delight over the team’s performance overall and vow that he and his management will continue to support and provide the motivation for the young boys to go all the way in the competition.
He disclosed that the technical department will not be carried away by the scoreline, saying there’s still much to be done before the team gel to reach maximum standard ahead of their upcoming international outings.
It would be recalled that in the opening game, Buruj Sports Academy were held to a 1-1 draw by E-Four FC before they walked over Majidun United in the second group game.
The management and technical crew of the academy are using the games to prepare the boys for their next European tour that will take them to countries like Germany, Turkey, Spain, France and England while registration of players is still ongoing.
