Buruj Sports Academy have been drawn by to confront Oladunjoye FC on Monday in the quarter finals of this year’s edition of Hon. Sesan Dada Football Tournament holding at Alasalatu playing ground, Agric, Ikorodu.
The kickoff time for the game that promises to be a cracker is 4.00 pm prompt, according to the fixtures schedule rolled out by the organisers – Ikorodu Divisional Football Association in honour of the Vice-Chairman of Ikorodu West Local Government Council.
Speaking ahead of the game, the CEO of the academy, Salaudeen Waheed, disclosed that having come this far, his boys are battle-ready to triumph over their next opponents and reach the next stage of the competition.
He also expressed optimism that their target which is to build a strong team ahead of their next European outings is beginning to yield dividends but the ultimate aim now is to win the trophy.
“We are battle-ready for Oladunjoye FC in the quarter finals and hopefully we can scale that hurdle to move to the next stage. Having come this far, the next target is to win the title. We have a bunch of young players who are improving with each passing day and they are yet to reach their full potentials. This tournament is a good platform to prepare for the next stage which of course is our foreign tours where we want to sell them in the eyes of international scouts and football agents,” he opined.
To get to this stage, Buruj Sports Academy played out a 1-1 draw in the opening group game against E-Four FC, walked over Majidun United in the second game before thrashing Standard FC 4-0 in the last group game to emerge as group winners.
In the round of 16 stage, the current English Super Cup Champions pipped Olodo FC 1-0 to move to the quarter finals.
