At the recently concluded Hive Youth League, young talented striker, Hakeem Onitolo ended the competition as the league’s highest goal scorer scoring seven goals in 7 games.
The Hive League is an internationally recognised 8-aside competition. There is the Youth League and the corporate league where teams register and compete in a one-legged neutral league format to determine the champion.
Hakeem Onitolo, a young striker with 96Champions who ended as the league champions finished as the top scorer after he scored seven goals in seven games while two of their games were won by the walk-over rule.
Popularly called the “goal machine”, Hakeem said he stamped the name on himself after lots of people tried calling him names of various professionals until an outside called him a machine because of his tireless style of play which always earned him goals.
“I feel very excited because it was not an easy task for me, we put in a lot of work and every matchday we try to get the victory for the team. I’m actually majorly excited because my team emerged champions of the league as it was the ultimate aim and I’m glad I was able to contribute substantially to our progress and victory in the league,” Onitolo said in a chat with Sports247.
He also gave special appreciation to his teammates, Mahmud Otubu mostly as he explained that five of his goals were assisted by the brilliant and skillful attacker who plays majorly from the flanks. Otubu was the captain of 96Champions and he led his team to victory while also picking up the Most Valuable Player of the league at the end.
Hakeem Onitolo is also a striker for the Unilag Marines and Surulere Regional League side Starbase FC, where Robert Odu recently moved from to the Hong Kong league and the lad hopes to be a full professional player in the coming years as he works tirelessly to achieve it.
