President of Handball Federation of Nigeria Mr. Sam Ocheho, who is the host, says this conference will set the path for further growth in the development of handball in Nigeria as the federation is willing to learn from the success stories of other countries.
For him, the International Handball Week is a welcome development to celebrate the ideals of handball in the development of every society in the world.
The International Handball Week was introduced at the 2019 Ordinary Congress of the International Handball Federation (IHF) to celebrate the world handball governing body’s founding date which is July 12th and every affiliate national federation were encouraged to organise special handball activities in their countries, such as matches, courses and so on with support from IHF.
But with the corona virus pandemic putting a halt to sporting activities globally including handball, the IHF intends to go ahead with the celebration of the International Handball Week using handball as a unifying tool to bring people together at this difficult time.
Thus, the need to organise activities in celebration for the week long celebration and HFN have taken the first step as the conference will be held virtually on zoom starting from July 13th.
