The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) have thanked the Sokoto State government for their commitment to sponsor the National Under 12/15 Handball Championships for the next three years.
The Sokoto State governor, His Excellency Honorable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal promised that the state will continue to host the National Under 12/15 Handball Championship during the closing ceremony of the competition at Gingiya Memorial Sports complex in Sokoto on Friday.
This promise gladdened the heart of the Secretary General (SG) of HFN Alhaji Maigidasanma Mohammed who, while thanking the governor on behalf of the federation, believes this gesture will help to develop handball in Nigeria.
“I wish to, on behalf of the Handball Federation of Nigeria expresses our profound gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. AMINU Waziri Tambuwal, Hon. Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alh. Aminu Bala Boginga, members of the MOC & LOC and the good people of Sokoto State for the hospitality and support on the just concluded National U12/15 Handball Championship.
Our joy knows no bounds, most especially on the pronouncement of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Sokoto State to sustain the hosting of the National Handball Championship for the next three years which indeed is a good omen and great one for the development of the Handball game in Nigeria”. He said.
The secretary general also revealed that the Sam Ocheho led HFN board showed appreciation to the governor for donating a coaster bus for their use.
“The Federation is very much delighted with many thanks to the Hon Commissioner and his lieutenants for facilitating the golden opportunity which has equally fetched the donation of a COASTER BUS for the Handball Federation of Nigeria.
The governor thereafter held a cocktail dinner for all of the participating teams, officials and board members of HFN.
HFN President Mr. Samuel Ocheho also praised the Sokoto State governor for the full support given to the federation during the National Under 12/15 Handball Championship and believes the structure for sports development laid down by government has made sports specially handball thrive.
