The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) have released her programme for the year 2020.
In The the programme of activities which was released and signed by HFN secretary general Alhaji Maigidansanma Mohammed, the first point of activity is Nigeria’s participation in the CAHB Africa Nations Cup which will hold from to January 16-26, 2020 in Tunisia.
The Senior national handball team led by Salami Rafiu of Issy Handball club, France with Solomon Yola Martins of Kano Pillars and Segun Tunji of Niger United as his assistants as well as Yerima Sylla who is on a travellers technical duty from the International Handball Federation (IHF) to assist the HFN, are camping presently in Lagos in preparation for the all important Nations cup.
Also in the programme of activities are competitions which is aimed at developing handball in the grassroot such as the National under 12/15 championship, the national sports festival, Samuel Ocheho Invitational International Tournament and a whole lots of grass root tournaments.
The national teams will also participate in different international competitions such as the IHF International Challenge Trophy as well the Zone 2 and 3 Africa Tournament.
The national women national team will participate in the 16th Africa Women Cup of Nation from August 24th to September 3rd 2020 while a selected youth side will participate in the Granoller Cup which will hold in Sweden around August.
The Handball League season will commence with the 2020 Prudent Energy Handball League phase one in Abuja in May while the second phase will hold in October 2020.
Then the national handball division one league will hold in November.
Alhaji Maigandansanma Mohammed said the programme will allow the federation plan well for its activities and to ensure smooth running for the success of the activities.
