Some Heartland FC fans, soccer enthusiasts, and Imo football stakeholders have commended the General Manager of the Club Mr. Chukwudi Ifeanyi for his foresight in approving the six-team tournament ongoing at the old township stadium Tetlow road Owerri.
The six-team tournament coordinated by Heartland FC Technical Adviser Fidelis Illechukwu is a platform designed by the GM Mr. Ifeanyi to provide an opportunity for few Imo budding talents to break into the Heartland team to make up the playing staff for the new season when it finally commences.
The club’s fans who spoke to the club media said the initiative is the first of its kind in decades as the state had abundant talent who should be given the opportunity to gain professional football experience instead of allowing them to waist on the street of Owerri.
They extolled the GM for agreeing to such an opportunity particularly for the young and upcoming footballers around town to showcase their talents for possible consideration and urged him to sustain the spirit.
The six-team tournament had teams like Pakat FC, Campos FC, Amanda FC, Taye FC, Vikings FC, and Ekwueme FC, participating in the tournament.
The tournament would come to an end on Saturday 31st October 2020, with the final game between a selected side from the participating teams and the retained Heartland FC players at the same venue old township stadium Owerri.
