Heartland Queens’ goalies, Cynthia Akwasi and Uchenna Chukwu, are feeling confident ahead of their first match in the 2023/2024 NWFL Premiership against visitors, Royal Queens.
The highly anticipated game will take place on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
Speaking to Heartland Queens Media, the new imports expressed their excitement to be a part of the team and their determination to contribute to the team’s success this season.
They acknowledge the team’s impressive performance in previous seasons and are eager to add to the team’s accomplishments.
“We have been preparing well and are in great shape for the league. We are confident that we will emerge victorious in our first match against Royal Queens,” said Akwasi.

She also promised to maintain a clean slate in the upcoming match and in all subsequent matches.
Chukwu echoed her teammate’s sentiments, stating that their presence on the team will greatly contribute to the team’s overall performance this season.
“Our goal is to win on Wednesday and secure three points. We are determined to bring victory to the team and see Heartland Queens in the Super Six for the first time,” said Chukwu.
Heartland Queens will face their familiar rivals, Royal Queens, in their first match of the season at their home ground, the Dan Anyiam Stadium.
The kick-off date for the NWFL has been moved up by a day. Initially slated to commence on Wednesday, November 15, the league’s new season is now set to begin a day earlier, on Tuesday, November 14.
