Heartland Queens Eye Back-to-Back Wins Against Confluence Queens in NWFL Premiership Clash

Heartland Queens will resume their NWFL Premiership campaign with renewed confidence as they take on Confluence Queens in a matchday 8 encounter at the Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) Stadium in Anyigba, Kogi State, on Wednesday.

The Owerri-based side heads into the fixture on the back of a dominant 3-0 victory over the Watersmeet team in their final game of the first half of the season. Wednesday’s showdown marks the fourth meeting between the two teams, with both sides having secured a win and a draw each in their previous encounters.

This match presents another opportunity for both teams to regain stability in a challenging season. Heartland Queens, who struggled early on, secured their first victory of the campaign against Confluence Queens in their last outing. Meanwhile, the Lokoja-based hosts are still in search of their first point of the season.

Buoyed by their recent breakthrough, Heartland Queens’ head coach, Obi Ogbala, will be eager to build on that momentum and complete a season double over their opponents. The coach understands that securing more wins is crucial to lifting his team’s standing on the table and putting them back in contention.

Ogbala is likely to stick with his mix of youth and experience, with promising goalkeeper Amarachi Atulayo expected to be between the posts. Defensive responsibilities could fall to Oluomachi Onwere, Chisom Henry, Prisca Nwachukwu, Ezinne Wokocha, and Nnenna Williams, while Oluchi Okwara, Samson Faith, Chizoba Johnson, and young talent Endurance Omoraka will likely control the midfield. Upfront, captain Chimebere Opara, Emmanuella James, Onyinyechi Kalu, two-goal hero Monica Matthew, and Tosin Ogundeko will be tasked with leading the attack.

Currently sitting sixth in their group with five points—14 behind leaders Remo Stars Ladies—Heartland Queens will be determined to climb up the standings with another crucial win on Wednesday.
