Heartland Queens emerged as the champions of SEWFA league after defeating Imo strikers Queen 1-0 in the finals.
To win the tournament the Landladies are the only side who finished the game unbeaten, won 6 matches, drew 1 match scored 20 goals, and conceded one goal.
In his reactions, Coach Obi Ogbala said that winning the tournament is expected of Heartland Queens and the girls did justice to that expectations.
“Thanks be to God for the Success, from the onset the bookmakers predicted Heartland Queens to win the trophy, and heartland queens did not fail.
We actually worked for the victory because being on the premiership side nobody will accept less from us in the tournament, you can agree with me that the process is ongoing to bring in new players into the team, we used the tournament to see the new players we have brought in and see how they can blend with the team.
Winning the tournament was based on the experience we have to put in to achieve this feat.
It is the first preseason. It was a good experience coming from teams all over South East to make a name and bring out the good things football has for a girl child and also promote or empower the girl child.
It was a good experience and the victory will motivate heartland queens to the premiership and football season generally.” Coach Ogbala concluded.
