Stand-in Captain of Edo queens, Glory Ogbonna has commended the efforts of the Edo State Governor, Rt. Honourable Philip Shaibu for the care and support on the team, so far, most especially as the year comes to a close.
The Edo State Deputy Governor was at the stadium on Wednesday to cheer the Edo Queens in their 1-1 draw against defending Champions of the NWFL, Rivers Angels.
Speaking with Sports247 after the match, the outstanding defender, Glory Ogbonna took some time out to commend and appreciate the efforts of the Edo State Deputy Governor, who she described as being a Fatherly Figure to she and her teammates. She also wished all her fans, who have been cheering and supporting them since the League started, a Merry Christmas, as the year winds down to a close.
“I want to use this medium to wish all our fans out there a Merry Christmas, who has been a kind of support to us since the League started this year. You people have been wonderful to us and I appreciate you all. I am sending out a heartful Christmas wishes to you all, wherever you are. Celebrate and Celebration will never cease in your families”.
“I want to use this opportunity as well to thank the Honourable Deputy Governor of Edo State, Honourable Shaibu, I am pouring out a heartful thanks to him. He has been a source of help to the team, making sure that the team live up to the standard level. And of recent, he just promised us some important equipment, which is good for the players, because every player needs to be professional as far as football is concerned. I really thank him a lot for all his Fatherly efforts, for all he has been doing to make sure that we look up to the standard and come out to become professional. So I thank you very much, Sir, we really don’t know how to thank you enough. We know that all your efforts will not be in vain. So thank you very much, Daddy, we really appreciate you for all you have done”.

Edo Queens, after the Christmas break, will return to action in the Nigerian Women Football League, when they battle Sunshine Queens away from home at the Akure Township Stadium.
