Super Eagles forward Sadiq Umar has revealed he suffered a lot at Scottish side Rangers where he spent the first half of the season on loan before ending up at Perugia in January.
Sadiq didn’t get games at Rangers leading to the termination of his deal and subsequently transfer to Perugia where he is currently involved in the Serie B playoff for a spot in the top division.
Speaking on his time in Scotland, the 22-year-old said he didn’t learn anything from coach Steven Gerrard during their time together, insisting that mentally he had his worst time ever in his short career.
”Maybe I should have listened to those who advised me against the move to Rangers.
A couple of friends did, to be honest, but the desire shown by Gerrard to have me in his team convinced me against all odds”, he told Sports247.
” That said I learnt nothing from him in six months. He dealt with me mentally and that affected my confidence on the pitch. The day I left the club still ranks among my best moment of the year”.
