May FC goalkeeper Godwin Friday was named the best goalkeeper of the 2021 Ikeja Divisional FA League following his outstanding performances in the series.
Friday kept three clean sheets in all three games and made numerous saves to help May FC to the crown as they finished in the first position on 7 points.
Speaking on winning the award, Friday told Sports247:
“I am so happy winning the award. It has not been a one-day job. It has been a job of so many days and hard work that I have been putting in.”
The youngster continued on his targets for the future:
“I do not want to only play football in the grassroots, I want to play it in a professional level in Europe just like professional goalkeepers of the past like Peter Rufai and Co.”
