One of Nigeria’s biggest football fan club, the Super Eagles Supporters Club and popular sports wear company, Haggai Sports are on the verge of signing a major deal.
This deal will see the sports wear company kitting the supporters Club in their various outings in supporting Nigerian football teams in and outside Nigeria.
Since Nigeria have not done this before, the motive, according to the leadership of the club is to enhance the spirit of togetherness in the support of our various national team and club sides as well. Haggai Sports is a brand of Zenith Sports which has the largest number of retail sport shops across the country. Haggai Sports is to produce 20,000 jerseys to be worn by members of the Super Eagles Supporters club for the home games of Nigeria football teams.
The national chairman of the Super Eagles Supporters Club, Vincent Okumagba, has told the media that this deal is motivated by the frequent and fervent followership of Europe’s based clubs and the activities of their supporters.
“When I watch teams abroad and their supporters especially teams like Real Madrid and the way their supporters adorn their white Jerseys, I am usually moved. I have decided that within the next 2 years I want to see our stadia filled with green and white anytime our national teams are playing”, Okumagba said.
When asked about the motivation behind this and how will it be sponsored, the oil mogul mother “The love for Nigeria is our motivtion. We don’t have sponsors at the moment but we are blessed with quality members who are professionals in different spheres.
Some are permanent secretaries, bankers, oil moguls and businessmen generally. We usually pull resources together to run the club and this present project is not any different. You will soon be seeing all of us turn our different stadia into green and white once the deal with Haggai Sports is sealed”, Okumagba further disclosed.
As the name implies, he was asked if the supporters Club is targeted for only the Super eagles but he explained that the Super Eagles Supporters Club actually supports not only the various national teams, they follow even the Nigerian clubsides whenever they are on continental duties. “The name is Super Eagles Supporters Club but that doesn’t mean we dont support other teams including Nigerian clubsides. We were in support of Enyimba all through their continental engagements. We were the only club in France for the women U-20 World Cup and the senior world cup with the Super Falcons”, Okumagba added.
In meeting the needs of supporting out football teams across the world, the Nigeria Super Eagles Supporters Club is a break away arm of the Nigeria football supporters club.
