Green Rangers FC on Thursday ended the unbeaten run of league leaders Emelem United of Umunede with a 2-1 win in the week 13 fixtures of the IGFL.
Coming from the back of a 2-1 lose to Winners FC on Tuesday goals from Osahon Rugged – his 8th in the season and Kelvin was enough earn Green Rangers all 3 points.
The victory took the Onwundinjor boys to 6th on the table and confirms they are safe from relegation while Emelem retained their top spot but just 2 points ahead of Unity stars FC who themselves defeated Rainbow FC 3-2 at the University of Delta Ground.
Unity FC defeated Rainbow in the first round and took a 3-0 lead in the first half. Rainbow came back stronger in the Second half with goals from Meshack Lorenzo and Samuel Ifeyinwa but Unity held on to win the tie.
KG Sports Academy walked over bottom place Akumazi and got the 3 points to take them to 4th place.
Winners FC sit on 3rd place after their 2-1 win over Green Rangers on Tuesday to open a 3 horse race for the title.
