First Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi has lauded the idea behind the newly constructed ultra-modern Seamoriow Sports Complex located at Ikotun in the Alimosho local government area of Lagos state.
The sports center fully funded by Seamoriow Sports Ltd, comprises a mini football pitch with dressing rooms, referee rooms, a medical center for players and officials, and a VIP lounge.
Speaking to the press at the unveiling ceremony, which was attended by several top sports dignitaries and retired Nigerian professional players, Akinwunmi stated:
“This really is what football is about. Grassroots football is the heart of football, that’s why we came here to support it. We’ve gone round, we’re very happy with what we’ve seen. We can only ask and pray that many more of these come up in various areas.”
Sola Aiyepeku, the Executive Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission also said that the Lagos state government will continue to provide an enabling environment for private investors in promoting sports development across the state.
“If it’s a basketball court you can put up in your locality, do it. Because sports is not just about the government. If you look all around the world where sports have developed, the government will open up the environment. Government can create the platforms but the investment comes from private sectors.”
Oluwaseyi Amos, the founder of the Seamoriow Sports Complex revealed that the facilities will house a football academy and will be available for competitions for secondary schools in the Alimosho region
