The Technical Director of the league leaders of the Nigeria Professional Football League, Ahmed Ibrahim, popularly known as Coach Bros, has commended State Football Associations in Nigeria for their relentless efforts in still making football number one sports in the country, but can still do better by putting more attention on helping grassroots coaches on refresher courses to keep them up to date on what the modern day game entails.
Coach Bros, speaking to journalists on his plans to introduce something new that will help in discovering hidden talents from the nook and crannies of Plateau State, but decided to still keep it very close to his chest, says refresher courses, seminars, workshops and even merit awards at the end of the year will go a long way in not only helping the coaches, but will tell positively on the grassroots players on the pitch and in their day to day activities.
According to him, “It amazes me seeing some players at the Nigeria National League and even at the elite league been taking through the basics and the rudiments of the game, instead of these senior coaches to concentrate on the formation and tactical play before matches!”
Coach Bros, who has decided to partner with “SSI” a grassroots developer on the Plateau after the ban must have been lifted on football, has called on all and sundry to join hands together to improve our football at the grassroots level in Nigeria.
Coach Bros, who owns the Golden Boots Soccer Academy that have unearthed players like,Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Kingsley Madu,Samuel Kalu of Bordeaux in France, Hilary Gong of Vittesse in Holland, Ibrahim Shuaibu of Haugesund in Norway, Peter Eneji of FC Senica in Slovakia, among others; has commended the Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, the State Commissioner of Youths and Sports, General Manager of Plateau United, Technical Adviser of Plateau United, the technical crew, the players, supporters and fans for their efforts in making sure that Plateau United remains tops in the NPFL with some scintillating brand of football that has held soccer lovers in Nigeria spellbound.
