Giants of Africa (GOA) 2-day workshop and seminar organised for grassroots coaches has ended in Ilorin on Friday.
The two-day clinic, which started on Wednesday, had over 20 youth coaches in attendance, who were trained in various ways to develop their coaching potential.
The Clinic Instructor, Michael Akuboh, who is also GOA’s West Africa Co-ordinator, said the purpose of the workshop was to empower and enlighten Africa youths through sports development.
He disclosed that GOA project, which was established in 2003, had been to several African countries.
Akuboh emphasised that the project was designed to assist youths to develop their talents and enhance their capabilities which they could pass on to young players and coaches.
Director of Sports, Kwara Sports Council, Coach Tunde Kazeem, thanked GOA officials for bringing the project to the state.
Kazeem advised participants to always strive for continuous self development through training and re-training.
He also urged them to obtain suitable coaching degrees in their quest to meet standard requirements for future higher competitions.
Other participants were members of the state basketball association as well as staff of the state sports council.
