Governor Wike Unity Cup: Abia Warriors Down Select FC To Stay Unbeaten, Sunshine Stars Edge Plucky Bayelsa United

Abia Warriors continued their unbeaten start to the Governor Wike Unity Cup Tourney as they whipped Select FC 5-0 on Monday night.

Moses Aderele’s men moved to the top of the table and were given plenty of help at Sharks Stadium, where they ran riot over the rookies.

With seven minutes of the match played the Umuahia Warriors finally started to show just why they have made it through, getting off the mark through a fine Daniel Mark strike.

Amos Umaro guided a simple second into the corner of the net after being left totally unmarked, before Ibrahim Olawoyin helped himself to a goal.

Edwin Odinaka’s own goal made the scoreline 4-0 at the Garden City.

Sunday Adetunji sent a good effort to the back of the net, ensuring that Aderele’s men had a clean sheet to go with their second successive win in the tournament.

In the other group game, Sunshine Stars held off the challenge of Bayelsa United to win 2-1.

Seun Olulayo and Barnabas Daniel handed the Owena Whales a two-goal lead before the Restoration Boys reduced the deficit late in the game.

Earlier in the day, Heartland defeated SKE FC 2-0 courtesy of Okon Otop’s brace.
