Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially approved Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo, following recommendations by the Oyomesi after thorough consultations and divinations.

In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, announced that the approval marks the end of the socio-legal disputes that followed the passing of the late Alaafin, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, on April 22, 2022.
Hon. Ojo urged all citizens of Oyo State to join in celebrating this historic moment and to support the new Alaafin in fostering peace, prosperity, and unity across the Oyo Kingdom. The government expressed its hope that Prince Owoade’s reign will bring progress to the revered throne.
