It was a dream start for A&A as they beat Abia Comets 2-0 in their opening Governor Ikpeazu Pre-Season Tournament at Enyimba Stadium on Sunday morning.
While Abia Comets tried to get into the game, the Academy Boys were just perhaps too good for them on the day and scored the important goals to ensure they pocket the full points and get their tournament off to a winning start.
For Abia Comets, the match will be a good indicator for coach Bethel Orji as to the job he has on his
hands in turning the team into a well-oiled machine that can easily get results.
The game was evenly balanced in the early exchanges.
As the game progressed, A&A found their rhythm and started dominating dictating the pace. And they were duly rewarded when they found the first goal in the 26th minute, with Israel Emmanuel scoring.
Four minutes into the second half, Comets came close to finding an equaliser.
But as Comets were looking better pinning the Academy Boys back, they were caught on a counter-attack in the 76th minute and Emmanuel scored again.
