Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr Hyacinth Alia, has expressed excitement over the progress of Lobi Stars Football Club in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and promised to expedite the repair of Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi for the team’s use.
During a courtesy visit by the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, and his entourage, Governor Alia assured the Lobi Stars management and players that Aper Aku Stadium would be fixed soon to allow the team to play all its matches in the state.

“I can confirm that the Commissioner of Youths, Sports, and Creativity has been on my neck. Very soon, Lobi Stars Football Club will return to Aper Aku Stadium, even before the league season runs out,” Governor Alia stated.
Lobi Stars, currently playing their home matches in Lafia Township, Nassarawa State, will soon have the opportunity to return to their home ground in Makurdi.
Governor Alia expressed his excitement about Lobi Stars’ position on the league table and commended the leadership quality of the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dominic Iorfa, for the team’s outstanding performance in the NPFL.

During the meeting, Governor Alia made an impromptu decision to grant all the requests of Lobi Stars, generating a standing ovation and applause from Vice Chairman Dominic Iorfa.
NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau commended the Governor for supporting the Benue Football Association led by Barr. Paul Edeh.
He pledged to donate a trophy for the Governor’s Cup tournament and appealed to Governor Alia to continue supporting the Benue Football Association through the Ministry of Sports.
