Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nasarawa State, Hon. Jafaru Ango, has assured the leadership of the Nasarawa State Football Referees’ Council of a healthy working relationship for the mutual benefit of the State and the Council.
He stated this when he played host to the Council’s leadership who were in his Office on a courtesy visit on Wednesday in Lafia.
In his words, Jafaru said, “I am happy to receive you in my office today.
“Referees are key components in any sporting setting and their values can never be overemphasized.
“As a Government, we have the mandate of organizing and creating the right atmosphere for our youth to showcase their talents and achieve their dreams in sports.
“And to attain this, the unwavering services and support of the referees are highly needed.
“At this point where our darling Club, Nasarawa United FC, is relegated to the lower division of the Country’s football league, all hands must be on deck, including the support of the referees, to return the Club back to the elite domestic football league as no one is happy with where we find ourselves.
“Everyone is giving their narratives as to why the team went on relegation, but that is not what is most important for now. Let’s come together, irrespective of your role, and make sure Nasarawa United FC returns to the Nigeria Premier Football League without any further ado.

“Additionally, as a Government, we will also render our support to you in your bid to achieve your goals and aspirations. By so doing, most of our young men and women can get a career in football refereeing in the State, Country and even Internationally.”
