Following the thrilling conclusion of the 2024 final of the Lagos State FA Cup, where Ikorodu City emerged victorious for the second consecutive year with a 2-0 victory over Inter Lagos, Orimoloye emphasized the importance of excelling not only in the Federation Cup but also in the league competitions.

Orimoloye, who also serves as a board member of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), highlighted the significance of achieving success at the national level, particularly singling out Ikorodu City and Inter Lagos, who currently share the top spot in Group B of the Nigerian National League (NNL).

Expressing optimism for Ikorodu City’s promotion from the NNL, Orimoloye underscored the importance of Sporting Lagos maintaining their position in the top-flight Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Additionally, he emphasized the need for FC Robo Queens to perform well in the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL).

Reflecting on the high-quality organization of the FA Cup finals and Lagos State’s esteemed reputation in sporting events, Orimoloye reiterated the state’s commitment to excellence.

“It’s not just how well you play that matters, but also how effectively you convert opportunities into goals,” Orimoloye stated, acknowledging Ikorodu City’s triumph and urging all Lagos State teams to strive for similar success in the national leagues.

He further encouraged teams to build on their recent achievements and translate them into victories in the national leagues, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a high standard of performance and achieving success on the national stage.

As Lagos State continues to uphold its legacy of sporting excellence, Orimoloye’s directive serves as a rallying call for clubs to uphold the state’s esteemed reputation and strive for success in the national leagues.
