Head coach of MFM FC, Fidelis Ilechukwu has promised to work on lapses noticed in the Gov Wike Unity Cup semi final loss to Sunshine Stars.
The Olukoya Boys lost 3-0 to the Owena Whales in the semi final of the pre season tourney at the Sharks Stadium on Saturday morning.
Goals from Sunday Abe, Dayo Ojo and Tayo Fabiyi condemned the Lagos side to their first defeat in the competition, having gone unbeaten before the semi final fixture.
“It’s funny. It’s football anyway,” the surprised Fidelis Ilechukwu mused to Sports247.ng.
“The good thing is that we are using the pre season to check our lapses and know what next to do.”
“From what has been observed in this tournament in Port Harcourt we have a lot of work to do ahead of the new season.”
We hope to be ready before the 2018/19 campaign gets underway. We are 50% ready for the new season.”
“There are lots of lapses in this young team which we are building. I must confess we missed a lot of our players that left. It’s a big challenge for us. We need to work towards filling the void left,” he added.
