DreamStars Ladies’ newly appointed Coach, Sheriff Tajudeen has stated that he chose to coach the Lagos-based female club side, so as to help improve the team, as well as to help the female football League in Nigeria.
The UEFA Licensed Coach stated this after taking charge of his first game, as the team’s new head coach, which unfortunately ended up in a loss at home for his team to Pelican Stars at the Soccer Temple Agege Stadium.
In an exclusive interview with Sports247 when being asked the reason for choosing Dreamstars Ladies, despite his UEFA Coaching License, Sanusi stated that he has a very cordial relationship with the chairman of the club (Dreamstars Ladies), but his main aim was to help improve the club, as well as to help the Nigerian Female Football League.
“Firstly, the Chairman of the club side is a personal friend of mine. I have been involved in the Women Football project over the last 3 years and we just had informal conversations about it and I thought it was a good opportunity to improve the club and also help the Nigerian Female Football League in certain aspects”.
“But my major focus is on this club. I have a soft-touch, personally for underrepresented groups, which include women, Women Football is something that has been on the sidelines in Nigeria for quite some time now and I think anything that I can do to bring the spotlight to Women football is beneficial for all women in Nigeria”, he stated.
Sheriff Tajudeen finally stated that the League is a Marathon, not a sprint and the team should not be judged with a single game, till the end of the season, when the team can be assessed.
