Gombe United Ends Wikki Tourists’ Unbeaten Run with Late Comeback Victory

Matchday 6 of the 2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) brought Wikki Tourists their first defeat of the season, falling 2-1 to Gombe United at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe on Sunday.

Haruna Aliyu opened the scoring for Wikki Tourists in the 44th minute, heading in a well-delivered corner kick from Nasiru Jibrin, giving the visitors a slim lead heading into halftime.

Despite controlling much of the game, Wikki Tourists were unable to maintain their advantage. Gombe United equalized in the 81st minute through Shedrack Anthony, who executed a remarkable solo effort, finishing off a precise cross from the right wing.

The hosts secured the victory in the 86th minute when Hassan Abubakar reacted quickly to a rebound off the crossbar, heading home the winning goal to the delight of the home fans.

Wikki Tourists will look to recover and return to winning ways in their next home fixture against Sokoto United.
