In a recent development, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has expressed his dissatisfaction with the current performance of the state-owned football club, Gombe United.
The governor issued a stern warning, indicating a potential halt in funding if the team fails to show significant improvement in their standings.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya, addressing the situation on a televised program, voiced his concerns about Gombe United’s current position, currently holding the 14th spot in the Nigeria Premier League.
He highlighted the financial support provided to the club, revealing a monthly allocation of 12 million, while contrasting it with the lack of financial backing for Doma United, another football team in the region.
In his own words, Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized the need for Gombe United to elevate their performance and adhere to the right standards.
He expressed his frustration, stating, “Gombe United should sit up and do things the right way, or I will consider redirecting support to Doma United, as they are both football teams under our authority.”
