Nigeria goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai is delighted with his call up to the Super Eagles for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.
The Enyimba goalkeeper was handed a call up by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rorh to replace Spain-based Francis Uzoho who pulled out of the team due to the injury he sustained in the colours of Elche against Cadiz last weekend in the Spanish Segunda Division.
The goalkeeper in an exclusive interview with Sports247.ng described the call up as a surprise in his career.
“I feel so great because this is an opportunity I have been waiting for, I think that this is the time and I need to grab it well and be serious,” said the former Kano Pillars shot stopper to Sports247.ng.
“I’m going there to do my best and will leave the rest to the officials, but I know all will go well,” he added.
The experienced goal minder admitted that his patience was rewarded with the call up.
