The Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, has encouraged the contingent of Team Oyo to aim for gold at the upcoming National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
During her visit to the travelling party at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Honourable Adegoke commended the team for their achievements so far and urged them to build on their momentum from the Zonal Elimination Games.

“I want to congratulate you on your achievements so far. I want you to rest assured that your safety and welfare before, during, and after the Games are of great priority to us, which is why the Governor approved all the funds requested. Therefore, go for gold for the Pacesetter state,” said Honourable Adegoke.
She also implored the team to be good ambassadors of the state and to avoid any anti-sporting activities.
Mr Tunde Ajibike, the General Manager of Oyo State Sports Council, expressed optimism about the athletes’ performance, noting that training had commenced in January. He emphasized the team’s preparedness and determination to excel at the Games.
The 8th edition of the National Youth Games is set to have its official opening ceremony on Thursday, September 12th, 2024, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State.
The event promises to be a significant platform for young athletes to showcase their talents and bring pride to their states.
