ALG Spor defender, Glory Ogbonna is highly confident that her team can retain their Turkish championship trophy following their comeback win against Besiktas on Sunday with further revelations of her excitement ahead of the Women’s 2023 World Cup games.
Formerly of Edo Queens, Glory reminisced back on the year, “2022 for me as a player was a good year but wasn’t that fulfilled but nevertheless it’s a good one. Alive and balling, going out to play my football, it’s all good.”
“Why I said it wasn’t that fulfilled was because we didn’t retain our AFCON trophy nevertheless we also achieved one goal which is our qualification for the World Cup.”
“Great year but wasn’t that great. I am looking ahead to 2023 of course because it’s the year for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.”
“We are all looking forward to that, we want to record success and fulfilment,” she confidently stated.
On her club level performance and the team, “we are doing great, topping the league table in our group and looking forward to retaining the cup as we are the defending champions at the end of the season.”
“Although we just finished first round last weekend, we won 3-1 away against Istanbul Besiktas and I was awarded the player of the match, assisting the equalizer because we were down in the 80th minute.”
“I made the assist, we restored parity 1-1 before we went on to eventually emerge winners with a 3-1 result. We are looking forward to make 2023 more outstanding and even more better than 2022,” she concluded.
