Gernot Rohr is right, local players are not good enough – Onipede

Wale Onipede, a FIFA licensed agents has backed Gernot Rohr that local players are not good enough for the national team.

In the saga of Rohr’s contractual issues with the NFF, the Franco-German had been compelled to monitor and include local players in the Super Eagles squad.

Onipede who narrated his ordeals with local players to Sports247 said local players are not good enough.

” Our players lack discipline and consistency. They hardly keep up with fighting for the big stage, they are lackadaisical to training which brings them down.”

Speaking on why Nigeria players are not top performacers in their respective clubs out of the country, Onipede says the players can not keep up.

” The players can not adapt to the technicality of the league out of the country. We agents know these guys, most are carried away with materials things. So for me, Gernot Rohr is very correct, the players are not good enough.”

He however, urged agents involved with local players to help manage their finances well as they do with their career.

” A lot comes with player management, when the player is managed well, they concentrate better, help them so that the player’s career does not cut short within a short period of time.”
