In a momentous occasion, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), officially closed the first-ever Abuja National Skating Competition over the weekend.
The CDS lauded the event, noting that it was “agog with thrilling skating skills and showcase of talents.”
The primary objective of the competition was to foster peace and unity among Nigerian children and youths while simultaneously boosting the sport’s popularity.
General Musa emphasized that the competition, featuring the Half Marathon Race, Slalom display, and Aggressive Ramp Jump, aims to discourage crimes in society.
Describing the event as a “giant leap and indicative milestone,” General Musa commended the Skating Federation for their remarkable progress.
He specifically praised the visionary leadership of the Skating President, recognizing the initiation of a workable and pragmatic vision for children and youths in the skating community.

Held at the MKO Abiola Stadium, the competition showcased a 42.5 Skating Marathon Race, drawing attention to the incredible talent within the skating community.
General Musa announced that the winner of this prestigious race would have the honor of representing Nigeria at the World Championship in Greece scheduled for the following year.
