Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan’s Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, expressed immense relief following the team’s 1-0 victory over Bayelsa United.
The win marked an end to 3SC’s six-match winless streak, boosting team morale and confidence.

Speaking after the intense Matchday 17 clash, Ogunbote acknowledged the challenging period the team had endured without securing a victory.
“I think it’s a big relief for the team. The truth be said, having gone through six games without a win you would expect that the confidence level would have dropped,” said the experienced coach.
Ogunbote highlighted the psychological impact of the winless streak on the team’s performance but emphasized the importance of returning to winning ways.
Despite the challenges faced against Bayelsa United, 3SC secured a crucial goal and strived for a second, demonstrating resilience on the pitch.
Explaining the tactical decisions, Ogunbote mentioned that some changes in the lineup aimed to introduce fresh legs and manage player fatigue. The coach remains optimistic about achieving the team’s set goals for the season, noting that there are still 22 games to determine their position.
“We have played 16 games so far, we have one outstanding game, and we still have about 22 games to determine that; that’s quite a lot.
I think it is still realistic,” added Ogunbote.
Looking ahead, the coach hinted at strengthening the squad with new additions during the mid-season transfer window, aiming for continued success in the campaign.
