Gateway United FC of Ogun State have called off its training on Monday 24th February, 2020 in honour of Tiyamiyu Kazeem, the Remo Stars defender who was reportedly killed by an operative of Special Anti Robbery Squad from the Ogun State command on Saturday 22nd February, 2020.
The football family not only in Ogun State but Nigeria by extension has been thrown into mourning with a call on the Inspector General of Police to ensure that the officers in question face the wrath of the law.
Cancellation of Monday’s training is the least the Abeokuta based club could do in honour of the deceased, according to Acting General Manager of Gateway United, Mr Niyi Soleye.
“We are still in shock over such an untimely death caused by unethicality and non professionalism of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of Ogun State police command. It is highly condemnable. We ought to be celebrating the potentiality if the deceased if not for this untimely death”
“In our own little way, tomorrow’s training has been cancelled as we continue to mourn and pray for the family of the deceased and Remo Stars family”, he concluded.
