Gateway Games Set To Inspire More Sports Stars In Nigeria – Governor Dapo Abiodun

Governor of Ogun State and chief host of the 22nd National Sports Festival, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed confidence that the event will inspire a new generation of sports stars in Nigeria.

Scheduled for May, the festival will take place at various venues across Abeokuta and the Ikenne-Remo axis.

Speaking during the official flag-off of the games by President Bola Tinubu, Governor Abiodun reaffirmed the state’s commitment to providing a seamless and successful tournament.

“We put in significant effort to secure the hosting rights, and we aim to use this festival as a platform to discover and nurture future sports talents for Nigeria,” he stated.

“Our goal is to inspire the next generation of athletes who will represent the country with pride at national and international competitions. We are fully prepared, and we hope this will be the best National Sports Festival in history.”

Also speaking at the event, which was held at the Aso Villa on Tuesday, former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba commended Abiodun’s dedication to sports development. He also acknowledged Ogun State’s rich sporting history, having produced some of Nigeria’s finest athletes, including Falilat Ogunkoya and Tobi Amusan.
