Formed Super Eagles’ battler, Garba Chindo Lawal has backed the Nigerian national team’s out of favour captain, Ahmed Musa for a recall to the squad and regain relevance in the side.

Sports247.ng reports that ‘Chindo’ is making a strong case for Musa, who has not been invited to the national camp since enduring a largely inconsequential place in the team at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
However, with Musa now on fire with regular goals and assists back home as Kano Pillars FC’s captain in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), agitations are rising high about a recall for him to the Eagles.
In the same vein, Lawal reckons that he has a strong case, considering that Musa has not retired from the Eagles and no official statement has been made by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) about handing the skipper’s band permanently over to William Troost-Ekong.
While some NPFL fans and analysts have also advocated that Musa should be drafted to the home-based Eagles, as they prepare to confront Ghana next month in the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) qualifiers, Lawal insists the winger’s current fiery form is good enough for the main national team.
Lawal argued, “Being consistent in goal scoring in a very tough league like the Nigeria Premier League is not a small thing.
“It shows his hunger for the game of football and his determination to prove that he still belongs at the highest level.”
Sports247.ng further gathered that Garba Lawal becomes the latest in a plethora of football buffs, stalwarts and stakeholders who are clamouring heatedly for Musa’s recall to the Super Eagles.
Two major factors that they are flaunting in his favour is that Musa is Nigeria’s most capped played ever and he is also the country’s top scorer at the FIFA World Cup – following his brace of goals against Argentina at Brazil 2014 and Iceland at Russia 2018.
