Garba Has No Excuse To Fail With Golden Eaglets – Chinwo

Former youth international, Kennedy Chinwo has declared emphatically that returnee under-17 national team, Golden Eaglets’ coach, Manu Garba has no excuse for failure on his latest assignment.

Although many observers believe Garba does not have enough time to build a team that will make Nigerians proud at the forthcoming West African Football Union (WAFU) qualifiers in Ghana, Chinwo argued otherwise.

The Eaglets’ squad member at Trinidad & Tobago 2001, who was also part of the silver-winning Flying Eagles’ team under Samson Siasia at Holland 2005 FIFA U20 World Cup believes a lot of talents abound for Garba to choose from.

He posited that the experience gained from winning the FIFA U17 World Cup at UAE 2013 should also come in handy, but the 38-year-old former player admitted that the coach will need support from all Nigerians.

Chinwo, who played as a right-back for Sharks and Dolphins of Port Harcourt as well as Sheriff and Timarsol of Moldova during his active days, added: “We need to give him a chance.
“I know he has acquired a lot of experience before now. So, he will do well. Time or no time is not an issue. He will pass over.

“One, you have the knowledge to build under-17 players, you will pass over. It’s not like the Super Eagles. We have youths who are ready to play.

“He just has to put his head down and pick the boys. That’s the main issue, not the short time.

“We have youths already that want to play. They are hungry to play, but it’s the selection that is the problem. I know he will do well.”
