Kano Pillars striker, Gambo Mohammed has expressed delight with his first goal of the season, as he believes it would accord him confidence to aim for more, sports247.ng reports.
After netting in Pillars’ 2-0 victory against Abia Warriors of Umuahia, 30-year-old Gambo said he was happy to make his mark in only his third full game of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
The former home-based Eagles striker added that hitting his first goal of the season on Wednesday also gave him additional confidence that he will now receive more playing time from the club’s coaching crew.
In the wake of the week 10 game at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, Gambo stated that he is happy to have made a good statement of himself after being shut out of the first-team owing to injuries and the impressive form of other strikers.
Gambo stated: “This is my third full appearance since the inception of the current league season.
“Last season I had few opportunities. Now that I have the nod from the coaching crew.
“I want to thank our technical crew for finding me worthy to be part of the starting line-up.
“It is for me to revive the prolific nature in my game to enable me score more goals.
“I strongly believe that my goal here against Abia Warriors has opened an account for more goals.”
