Galatasaray has confirmed that their forward, Victor Osimhen, suffered a strain and bleeding in his left upper back muscle during their seventh-week match against Kasımpaşa in the Trendyol Super League.
The injury occurred towards the end of the first half, prompting Osimhen to signal for a substitution. He had delivered a stellar performance, scoring twice to give Galatasaray an early lead before the injury forced him off the pitch.

During the second half, despite an attempt to return, Osimhen was ultimately replaced by Dries Mertens. The club’s medical team has started his treatment, and initial assessments suggest he might be sidelined for up to two weeks.
As seen on their official website, “Treatment has started for our football player Victor Osimhen, who felt pain in his left upper back muscle during the Kasımpaşa match in the seventh week of the Trendyol Super League and was detected to have a strain (strain and bleeding) in his left upper back muscle group during his check-ups at our sponsor hospital, Medicana.”
This means he could miss some critical upcoming fixtures, including Galatasaray’s UEFA Europa League match against FK Rīgas Futbola Skola and potentially Nigeria’s AFCON qualifier against Libya.
Galatasaray’s coach, Okan Buruk, has voiced his concerns over the injury, attributing it partly to the congested match schedule that the team has been facing.
He emphasized the need for a balanced fixture list to prevent such injuries and maintain player fitness throughout the season.
The injury is a significant blow to Galatasaray, as Osimhen had just ended a three-game goal drought with his brace.
Fans and management alike are hoping for a swift recovery, eager to see him back in action for both club and country.
